President Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin were evidently so absorbed in conversation that even Melania couldn’t tear them apart, according to Secretary of State Rex Tillerson.
President Trump and Putin’s meeting was scheduled for 30 minutes but the meeting was running for over an hour. The President had other events scheduled for the evening and everyone wanted them to hurry up, so they sent in Melania to get him moving.
Tillerson said after the meeting:
“Several times I had to remind the president, people were sticking their heads in the door.”
“They even sent in the first lady at one point to see if she could get us out of there, and that didn’t work either…”
He then ended jokingly:
“We went another hour after she came in to see us, so clearly she failed.”
We know Melania and President Trump have a great relationship, and we’ve all been in one of those situations where we’re trying to get our significant others to leave when we’re in a hurry.
The meeting ended up going for 2 hours and 16 minutes. Tillerson, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov, and two translators joined the two presidents.
Tillerson also said that President Trump raised “the concerns of the American people regarding Russian interference in 2016 election.” But they did find common ground when they agreed to “create a framework” to deal with cyber security and terroristic threats to their countries.
Their long meeting is a great sign for America’s relationship with Russia, which soared under Obama’s tenure. Melania, I’m sure, didn’t even mind.
Of course, the media will never talk about how well this meeting went- that’s why we’re asking you to share this!
