Former FBI director James Comey has finally been forced to come clean with the truth. During his public testimony Thursday morning, Comey admitted to being the one who orchestrated the leak of his conversations with President Trump. Shortly after his dismissal, Comey authorized “a close friend” to leak his memos to the press in order to prompt a special counsel investigation.
“I asked a friend of mine to share the content of the memo with a reporter,” Comey told the Senate Intelligence Committee. “I didn’t do it myself for a variety of reasons but I asked him to because I thought that might prompt the appointment of a special counsel.”
When asked to explain WHY he made the decision to leak the memos, Comey explained that “as a private citizen I thought it important to share that, I wanted to get it out.”
Watch that again. Can’t you believe he said that?
When asked why he didn’t simply release the memos to the press himself, the former FBI Director said he “worried it’d be like feeding seagulls at the beach.”
The comments make clear an obvious hypocrisy, especially when you factor in his intention to call a special counsel regardless of the evidence. The lack of evidence was exactly why Comey had kept quiet about the Oval Office meeting, with FBI leadership agreeing there was no way to corroborate his accounts.
Apparently, that wasn’t enough for Comey, who ultimately admitted his decision was made after waking up “in the middle of the night.” Unfortunately for America, now we have to slow down the White House even further to address concerns stemming from a bad dream.
I think our President and his administration have far more important responsibilities than wrapping up an unfounded witch hunt. Comey has proven himself untrustworthy time and time again, and President Trump’s recent successes are only getting buried by this public attack.
We need to show Comey that he and his “friends” will NOT hamstring the White House any longer.
Speak up and SHARE THE TRUTH about our President!
