Two talks about race in America were conveyed on the Senate floor on Thursday, however just a single became a web sensation.
The first proved that so-called “progressives” still live in the past, while the second was delivered by a Republican lawmaker who lives in the present and looks to the future.
As commentator Derrick Wilburn observes:
I an odd twist of irony, the second speech provided partial validity of the first.
In the first place, Florida Democrat Bill Nelson took the floor to declaim the standard liberal ideas, similar ones they’ve been utilizing for a long time: That America is a supremacist and biased country.
Indeed, Nelson included, “regardless of the progression of time,” America is similarly as ghastly as it was in 1963 — that is, as the Civil Rights Movement was adapting.
(Nelson neglected to mention that JFK and LBJ both had to be cajoled into supporting the Civil Rights Movement, contrary to the hagiographic movies Hollywood churns out about that era; he also left out how vigorously members of his own party — including one affiliated with the KKK — filibustered and otherwise opposed federal laws against discrimination. And of course, he’s somehow forgotten that Americans voted for a black president, twice…)
Anyway, soon it was Senator Tim Scott’s swing to talk. The South Carolina Republican, who additionally happens to be African-American, accepted this open door to peruse so anyone might hear a portion of the supremacist genuinely, extremist abhor mail he gets each day.
From self-portrayed liberals and Democrats!
“If you sign up to be a black conservative, the chances are very high you will be attacked,” the Republican from South Carolina stated. “It comes with the territory, and I’ve had it for 20 years, two decades, but my friends and my staff, they’re not used to the level of animus that comes in from the liberal left…”
“I left out all the ones that used the n-word. I just felt like that would not be appropriate.”
Watch the entire incredible speech…
These attacks on Scott are not isolated incidents.Other prominent dark traditionalists are subjected to comparative defamations every day, with likely the most acclaimed episode being the affirmation hearings for Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas, which he later depicted as “an innovative lynching.”
Once more, those assaults were driven by supposed liberals, a large portion of whom was likewise African-American.
In a definitive incongruity, Obama’s administration just appears to have made the racial partition in America more terrible. Hopefully that some way or another, Donald Trump can unite the nation on employments and national security, with the goal that race will take a secondary lounge.
